‘No matter how long the Winter, Spring is sure to follow.’

Goodbye to this winter hibernation! During the pandemic, we burrowed at home, with limited access to activities, our friends, families and the community at large. Today, Ridgers are returning to work, attending church, taking horseback riding classes, celebrating with parties, eating out, going to movies, shopping and spending time with their friends.

Valentine’s Day was a great example of life after COVID-19. Attending a special lunch at the Dudley Activity Center, I saw Ridger couples and friends enjoy a nice meal, talking and laughing. It was delightful to catch up with folks, and to hear all their news.

We are moving forward at Peppermint Ridge! We need staff for our homes, and with classes resuming, we need instructors for yoga, art, music, crafts, fitness, etc. We are searching for an Activities Director and need a seasonal (April/May to October) pool activities person. Please send anyone interested our way.

Peppermint Ridge and the rest of the world is finally emerging into a spring of opportunities. There will be more activities, events and adventures, as we appreciate the privilege of being together with no barriers between us. I am hopeful now that we felt each other’s absence this last winter, we will treasure the future times when we visit, laugh and hug each other.

Thank you for your continued support of Peppermint Ridge and the people who live here.

See you soon.

-Danny

7th Annual Fire & Ice

Our volunteers had so much fun helping facilitate Circle City Rotary's 7th Annual Fire & Ice Chili Cookoff & Craft Beer Festival! It was refreshing to connect with old friends while make new ones.

We were kept busy greeting attendees, collecting tickets, monitoring safety, and just generally enjoying each other's company.

Circle City Rotary is a fantastic community partner helping to support Peppermint Ridge and many other local non-profit organizations. We are very proud to partner with them!

Ridge Life: Be My Valentine...

Peppermint Ridgers donned their best Valentine wear and brought their hearts full of love to the Valentine Dinner and Dance on February 14th. They enjoyed striking their best poses in the photo booth full of fun picture props. Others broke out their famous dance moves to impress their friends.

The event brought huge smiles to all faces and lots of laughter to go with the love flowing in abundance. It was truly an evening to remember.

In February, they also enjoyed a Burgers & Bubbles Bar-B-Que (yes, you read that right), went to the movies, and shopped for their prom attire at the Prom Boutique held at Crossroads Church.

Ridge Life: Field Trip

Some Peppermint Ridge residents had the opportunity to enjoy an adventure to Idyllwild. This is a favorite of the many outings they take, so were very excited to enjoy the beautiful Southern California weather while seeing the sites.

We made sure to stop for photo ops in front of Tree Monument while we wandered through town.

Ridge Life: A New Pet

Meet Sugarplum, the new pet Beta fish in Wynn Home. Pam B. has wanted a pet fish for some time. She finally got her wish, and it arrived with a fancy tank complete with fun decorations for Sugarplum to enjoy. It has been a joy to watch Pam's excitement in taking care of her new friend.

Ridge Life: Starbuck's At Home

We are so lucky to have the amazing staff we do! We're grateful to have folks who have an abundance of talent and generosity, and are willing to share.

Wynnn Home residents recently had a "Starbuck's at Home" day to learn some expert barista skills. Debbie, Barbara, and Pam are ready to serve up your favorite coffee with a smile!

Ridge Life: Christmas

Christmas was quite joyous in the Del Park Home. We celebrated with traditional flare, and enjoyed being together as a Ridge family. Residents were served a Christmas feast and they opened gifts together.  It was heartwarming to be without barriers to share our happiness.

Ridge Life: Birthdays

A birthday is the one day when it's YOUR day... the day when you can ask for just about anything (within reason, of course) and expect to have your wish granted. Whether it's McDonald's for lunch, a chocolate cupcake with blue frosting, or the most fabulous party hat ever, your wish is our command!

We celebrate EVERY birthday at Peppermint Ridge, and from the look on John's face, you can see why. Looks like he got all of his wishes in Roger Home.

United Church of Christ Visit

On Thursday, February 24th, Peppermint Ridge hosted clergy and lay ministers from Claremont, San Bernardino, Redlands and Perris. Michael Readinger, the President and CEO from the Council of Health and Human Services, United Church of Christ was visiting from their headquarters in Cleveland, OH.  It was so wonderful to re-energize our partnership after a long COVID-induced hiatus. During the visit, residents showed off their decorating talents and gave tours of their homes.

Ministers from the United Church of Christ became familiar with Peppermint Ridge in 1962 when the minister from UCC Corona placed his son at Peppermint Ridge in Norco. In the 1970’s, the United Church of Christ helped purchase the land in Corona so services could grow to meet the ever-present need. Churches in The Southern CA Nevada Conference of the UCC have continued to support the mission of The Ridge through donations and other partnerships.

Stay Tuned...

With warmer weather coming with summer, we're looking forward to more outdoor activities and adventures. Swim classes, Bar-B-Ques, nature trips, and more are all on deck for Peppermint Ridgers. Fitness classes and crafts are also going to be added to the calendar. We'll be back with loads of pictures to share!
